Becoming More Than A Worry Freak Is A Reason To Get Worried

Generalized Anxiety Disorder or GAD, is a behavioral problem that is characterized by excessive anxiety and worry that lasts for six months or more. The cause is usually unknown, unless the patient undergoes psychotherapy, physical examination, or counseling, in which the cause or causes of GAD will be revealed.

Being worried happens to almost all of us. It is a very common phenomenon that happens due to changes (or lack of it) in the environment. We often worry about our work, our family, money, health, and other responsibilities that we encounter in our day to day living. However, when one experiences extreme tension due to worrying, and the anxiety attacks more often than necessary, then one could already be having GAD.

Studies have shown that women are twice likely to have GAD than men. People with existing panic disorder, depression, phobias or other psychiatric disorders are more prone to GAD. This condition often starts during childhood or adolescence. However, it could also start at any age on a case to case basis.

In order to check if you are already an unfortunate candidate of this disorder, you have to ask yourself the following questions:

Now that we’ve covered those aspects of Behavior Problems, let’s turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered.

? Has this excessive anxiety been going on and off for the past 6 months or so?
? Do you often experience the following: restlessness, muscle tension, irritability, unusual fatigue, disturbed sleep, and difficulty in concentrating?
? Does your constant worrying already affect your way of living?
? Are you having difficulty in controlling your anxiety?

If you answered yes to the 1st, 3rd, and 4th question, and picked 3 or more factors in the 2nd question, then you may indeed be suffering from General Anxiety Disorder.

Nevertheless, people who are showing signs of GAD need not worry for this disorder has several treatments and prevention. Undergoing psychotherapy is one way to focus on the source of the problem and solve it. Psychologists or psychiatrists might use a cognitive-behavioral approach for this type of disorder, since the approach is more problem-focused. For more severe cases, the psychiatrist may suggest taking antidepressants in small doses for a certain period of time.

In order to avoid Generalized Anxiety Disorder, open communication channels and good support groups are the way to go. Find a way to release your tension and anxiety, be it through exercise, arts, and engaging in other fun, safe activities and hobbies. Another way would be by having open communication with your support group, which may consist of family, friends, co-workers or classmates and teachers. Talk to them, especially when something has been worrying you for quite some time already. Sharing the burden with the people you trust will definitely lighten your load. And lastly, stay away from negative people, or an environment that brings you down.

Prevention is always better than cure. Learn to read the signs of General Anxiety Disorder and be aware of how it could be prevented. Worrying may keep one alert and on the lookout for possible dangers, but too much of it is bad for your mental and physical health.

Now you can be a confident expert on Behavior Problems. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something to bring to the table next time you join a discussion on Behavior Problems.

Bringing into the Light Oils Used in Aromatherapy

Have you ever wondered if what you know about Aromatherapy is accurate? Consider the following paragraphs and compare what you know to the latest info on Aromatherapy.

When you drop by aromatherapy or natural health and beauty stores, you are faced with choosing among the many ingredients you may employ to achieve a holistic treatment. Some of the items you may encounter include essential oils, carrier oils, fragrance oils and infused oils. Already confused? Read on to differentiate one from the other, and get to know each one?s uses.

Essential Oils

You might be surprised, but the so-called essential oils are not oily to the touch at all. Most of them are clear, but some come in amber or yellowish color, such as orange and lemon grass essential oils.

Essential oils are distilled, usually by steam or water, from various parts of the source plant such as leaves, stems, petals, roots and other parts. They are highly concentrated and contain no artificial fragrances. When applied to the skin or inhaled, the composition and scent of these oils can provide many physical and psychological benefits.

They are often sold in small bottles and can greatly vary in price, depending on the rarity of the plant, the amount of oil produced by the plant and other standards. Because they are in pure form, essential oils are often diluted with carrier oils prior to usage.

Carrier Oils

Since essential oils are very much concentrated and may cause severe irritations and other reactions in some people, carrier oils are used to dilute them. Carrier oils are derived from the fatty portions of the plant, such as the seeds, nuts and kernels. Sometimes called vegetable oils, each one of them carries different therapeutic benefits, depending on what is being sought.

It seems like new information is discovered about something every day. And the topic of Aromatherapy is no exception. Keep reading to get more fresh news about Aromatherapy.

Carrier oils got scents of their own, although they may not be as strong as those from essential oils. Some of the natural lotions, body creams, massage oils, bath oils and other skin care products are made from carrier or vegetable oils. The choice of carrier oils where essential oils are added to can make a difference in the properties, effects, color, scent and shelf life of the final product.

Fragrance Oils

While essential oils are natural because they are made of the distilled essences of the plants where they came from, fragrance oils, on the other hand, are artificial scents ? they contain artificial substances and are diluted with carrier oils. You might have also encountered items like perfume oils or potpourri oils, but they are basically just the same as fragrance oils, considering how they were made.

Unfortunately, fragrance oils do not carry the same therapeutic benefits offered by essential oils. Many scented cosmetics, candles, skin-care products like lotions and soaps, and others only contain fragrance oils or other synthetically-made fragrances. You have to read the labels carefully if you intend to use only natural ingredients in achieving relaxation and holistic caring.

Infused Oils

Infused oils are simply carrier oils infused with herbs. They are especially intended for certain plants that simply do not have much essential oils in them, or when it is virtually impossible to find essential oils extracted from those plants.

The good thing about using infused oils in aromatherapy than just plain carrier oils is that the combined therapeutic benefits of the carrier oils and the herbs infused into them are achieved. Infused oils are generally oily to the touch, depending on the consistency of the carrier oils used.

Unlike essential oils, infused oils can go rancid over time, just like carrier oils.

How to Plan an Inexpensive Bachelorette Party

Let’s face it, weddings are expensive. Even for guests and especially for bridesmaids. You have to buy an engagement gift, a bridal shower present, a wedding gift. You have to buy your dress, your shoes, and pay to travel to the wedding sight. You are usually left feeling like the wedding was a real drain. Then, you realize you have to participate in throwing a bachelorette party. But, a bachelorette party is supposed to be a fun celebration of the friendships between women, not a monetary drain that stresses everyone out. Instead of focusing on an expensive bachelorette party, like a trip to Vegas, a day at a special spa, or a night in a limo, you can opt for a cheaper, yet still fun and exciting bachelorette party.

One great way to cut costs when planning a bachelorette party is to make sure that all the party guests chip in. Bridesmaids often pool their resources to make the party a success, and by spreading out the cost, it isn’t overwhelming for any one girl.

Other keys to keeping a bachelorette party at a low price tag is to have an at home party. You can buy alcohol cheaper at a liquor store than paying for drinks in a bar. Food can be as simple as ordering pizzas and baking some cookies. Decorations can also be low cost. You can make a room really sparkle with just some balloons and a few banners, anything that signifies “bachelorette party!” A color as the theme helps keep decorating a low cost endeavor. You can choose pink or red, for example, and use streamers and balloons to decorate.

Is everything making sense so far? If not, I’m sure that with just a little more reading, all the facts will fall into place.

A bachelorette party at home can also have lots of inexpensive party games. Print out free online bachelorette party bingo cards; play truth or dare (which is free!); or make up a group story about the bride. Take turns telling your funniest story with the bride, or just gab about boys and the upcoming wedding. These are great bonding activities, but they don’t cost money. The bachelorette party should be more about the bonding and the time you spend with close friends than expensive pre-made party games or food from a caterer.

As for presents for the bride, at a bachelorette party they are optional. It is often more fun to have gag gifts, which are usually very inexpensive. Buy her a tawdry romance novel. Give her a bottle of massage oil. These are items that are bachelorette party appropriate but won’t break the bank.

As for party favors, those too can be inexpensive, like the large lollipop rings shaped like diamond rings. Or, nail polish for each girl to use when giving herself a pedicure and manicure during the course of the evening. These items are girl, fun, and very cheap as they can be bought at any discount store.

Remember, when you are planning a bachelorette party you are planning a fun event, not one that will be measured by how much money you spent on it. The party is more about the girls involved than the dollar amount, and you don’t have to go broke to share your job about being friends.

Now that wasn’t hard at all, was it? And you’ve earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert’s word on Bachelorette Parties.

Symptoms of Low Self Esteem to Look Out For

If you’re seriously interested in knowing about Self Esteem, you need to think beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about Self Esteem.

Nobody is shielded from low self esteem. However, it is important to differentiate between feelings of low esteem from sadness, or from the effects of a string of bad days. There are a couple of symptoms of low self esteem that you can look out for if you feel that you or a loved one may be suffering from low self esteem.

First, it is important to realize that unlike sadness or feeling like you woke up from the wrong side of the bed does not constitute low self esteem. This is because psychologists often consider self esteem as a persisting self-conception. This enduring self-image can permeate into a person?s every activities, as it is at the core of a person?s conception of his or her self-worth.

One of the first symptoms is constant self-deprecation. You may find that a person with low self esteem will easily say bad things about his or her self, passing comments even about how they are not worth the time or effort that people give them. They may also talk about their incapacity to fulfil their duties.

In addition to self-deprecation, people suffering from low self esteem will constantly express unhappiness about their bodies and how they look. Poor self-image is one of the most telling signs of low self esteem. They may constantly be paranoid and sensitive about what people think about how they look. What?s worse, some of them may respond to this bad self-image through some form of eating disorder.

It seems like new information is discovered about something every day. And the topic of Self Esteem is no exception. Keep reading to get more fresh news about Self Esteem.

People who suffer from low self esteem may be obsessed with order, forcing themselves to comply by an impossible standard of perfection in whatever task they are involved in. This may make them work slower than others, and may make them more vulnerable to feelings of not doing well because of their own impossible expectations. This feeling of failure (despite the fact that they did not fail, except by their own impossible, perfectionist standards) helps further feed their bad perception of their own self-worth.

They may also be extremely eager to please, depending very heavily on the approval of others in order to feel good about themselves. They find no pleasure in completing and succeeding in tasks unless they are recognized by the people whose opinions they believe matter.

They may even be all too eager to compare themselves to other people they have high regard to. However, it is important to note that these comparisons, for them, fulfil the necessary function of highlighting what they lack and what flaws they possess.

While there are those who withdraw from society as a result of their low self esteem, there are those who respond by uninhibited anger against themselves or other people. They may express this either by hurting themselves or the people around them, even if these people are not those who triggered feelings of anger. After all, because of low self esteem, these people begin to hate themselves and the people around them. They are also likelier to suddenly explode in anger over very little issues when they feel that they are being cornered or humiliated.

By identifying the symptoms of low self esteem, you will be able to determine the best course of action in order to appropriately respond. If you or someone you know scores positively in terms of these symptoms, then it may be good to seek help as soon as possible from a psychologist or therapist.

Those who only know one or two facts about Self Esteem can be confused by misleading information. The best way to help those who are misled is to gently correct them with the truths you’re learning here.

Aromatherapy, what’s it all about?

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you’ll find that the subject of Aromatherapy is certainly no exception.

Aromatherapy is one of the fastest rising industries in the country. With the fad of new age activities like yoga on the upswing, it seems that aromatherapy is here to stay for the next couple of years. In fact, it is one of the most popular practices in terms of holistic and alternative medicine.

It is being used everywhere, from clinics and hospitals for their pain relief treatment especially during labor and with chemotherapy to the rehabilitation of patients who have heart ailments, from the alleviation of stress and the relaxation of muscles in day spas to the beauty and cosmetic products being made. You name it and aromatherapy has influenced it one way or the other.

But besides candles and lotions and scents, which define aromatherapy to a T, what is it all about and what can it give us?

Aromatherapy is the practice of using oils from plant extracts for medicinal, relaxation and aromatic purposes. These oils are called essential oils, which are used and combined with other ingredients to produce perfumes, lotions, and other beauty, skin care and hair care products. In fact, all the products with your favorite plant scent such as Rose, Lavender and Chamomile are results of the practice of aromatherapy. It is said that aromatherapy can also improve one’s mood, lightening it up and easing the stress. This is perhaps why the technique is also used in massage parlors and spas to relax customers.

The use of essential oils is a practice that has been going on for centuries. It all started with the Greeks, who invented the crude way of distilling. The process of distillation was then used to extract the oils from the plants.

How can you put a limit on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.

Next to adopt the practice are the Egyptians, which incorporated it into their traditions and customs. Plant oils are used in their various religious set-ups and even in the burying of their dead. In fact, archaeologists who dug up tombs in Egypt have found plant extracts and remains with embalmed bodies. It was also the Egyptians, who first used the plant extracts for cosmetic and aromatic purposes.

Next in line were the Romans, who discovered the use of the essential oils as medicine. Hippocrates, the father of medicine, has been known to use plant oils in his medical work back in his time.

It was only in the 1920s that the practice got the name “aromatherapy” which was invented by René Maurice Gattefossé, a French chemist, who used the process in his own work. Unknown to many, aromatherapy has a lot of branches. One of those branches is Home Therapy, which deals with the use of the practice for self-treatment as well as in the use of it in making perfumes and cosmetics. It is also used in medical practice and this branch is called the clinical aromatherapy. Lastly, the branch that deals with the use of aromatherapy in the psychology of odors and its effects in people is called the Aromachology.

One of the best known scents in aromatherapy is the lavender, which people can actually find in every product label in groceries and in beauty stores. Unknown to many, lavender can also be used in the treatment of wounds as well as in the enhancement of memory. It can also be used as a sleeping aid as it helps relieve anxiety and insomnia.

In addition to lavender, other really popular aromatherapy products are those with the scents of Rose, Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Cinnamon, Rosemary and of course Jasmine.

Improving Self Esteem Without Fear of a Backlash

The fear of low self esteem has fed a lot of well-meaning but completely misguided efforts in improving self esteem. After all, many people fear that some acts of violence, like bullying, result from low self esteem, or from an exploitation of other people?s low perception of their own worth.

This doesn?t mean, however, that all efforts to improve self esteem are worthless. With enough effort and support from other people, something as enduring as a person?s conception of their worth as people can be slowly changed and improved. It is important to recognize that the process of trying to improve self esteem is one that will take time and effort, and that any haphazard or half-hearted effort towards that effect can even worsen a person?s self perception.

It is important to recognize that self esteem, to begin with, is not the same as self confidence. While self confidence is more forward-looking, like a consideration of a person?s ability to do well in a future activity, self esteem is a person?s long-term perception of their worth. Integral to good self esteem is self-love, self-appreciation, and recognition of both one?s flaws and gifts. Low self esteem can contribute to one?s low levels of confidence.

This means that someone who thinks he or she will be unable to fulfil a particular task does not necessarily have low self esteem. This is because low self esteem is a wholly-conceived personality and self-perception. There are a couple of symptoms of low self esteem, not limited to taking one?s self for granted, thinking one does not deserve the love and affection showered on them, having terrible self-image, and imposing impossible standards on one?s self and then punishing one?s self heavily for not meeting them.

If your Self Esteem facts are out-of-date, how will that affect your actions and decisions? Make certain you don’t let important Self Esteem information slip by you.

In order to improve self esteem successfully, recognize that you may need help in the process, and that seeking help is not a sign of failure. In fact, psychiatrists are trained specifically to help move you away from your negative feelings and perceptions about yourself. With their help, you will be able to re-evaluate how you view yourself in the context of your daily activities and your social interactions.

Do not succumb to the temptation to eat too little or eat too much as a result of poor self-image. Recognize that by taking care of yourself, you?ll begin to appreciate better how you look, and that, at the end of the day, your opinion on how you look is the only one that matters. Eat healthier, work out more, and sleep in once in a while.

Work hard, and take credit for the good work that you do. You do not need other people to appreciate the hard work you?ve put in; realize that with or without the recognition of other people, you deserve a pat on the back for the work you know you?ve put in.

Put your needs before other people?s needs. This does not mean that you are thinking only of yourself as though you were selfish. Rather, by satisfying your own needs first, you are able to better help other people out. This is because you recognize that you are worth as much trouble as they are, too. This will also help prevent other people from taking advantage of you, because you know that you respect yourself as well.

At the end of the day, improving self esteem need not be a losing battle. It all begins by recognizing that you can improve your esteem, that you can get help, and that you can make conscious decisions daily to make you realize your own worth as a person.

Sometimes it’s tough to sort out all the details related to this subject, but I’m positive you’ll have no trouble making sense of the information presented above.

Off-Season England Vacation ? Tips and Tools

There is a good reason why off-season is considered “off”. From November to March, the weather in England can be cold, snowy and rainy. And if you want to wear shorts and a shirt and don’t like to get wet, these months are not for you. Some shops are also closed during off-season. However, as unorthodox as it may sound, scheduling your England vacation during these months is worth a shot. High-season may have the best weather and extra hours of sunlight but off-season presents a more relaxed atmosphere, fewer tourists and cheaper flights and hotels.

Why travel in the off-season?

Fewer crowd
Scheduling a trip to England during high-season can become a headache than a vacation. Why? Two reasons: one, many Americans schedule their England vacation during high-season which means crowded plane and hotels, and two, English, as well as other Europeans also schedule their trip during these months, which make the city streets of London and attractions across the country much crowded. So, if you are a kind of person who can do without crowd, then an off-season trip fits you.

Savings
The basic rule is; if there is a high demand the prices are much higher and if the demand is low, the prices go down. So if you decide to travel during the months when England cities are less visited, you can definitely save a lot on rooms and plane ticket.

See how much you can learn about England Vacation when you take a little time to read a well-researched article? Don’t miss out on the rest of this great information.

Greater availability
Fewer visitors mean more available hotel rooms, car rentals and plane tickets. During high-season, hotel, rental and plane reservations should be made months in advance. Alternately, you can get a hotel or a plane booked and a car rented few days in advance if not on the same day.

Packing tips during off-season England trip
It is easy to pack light if your daily outfit is shorts and a shirt. But it is a different story when you pack for the rainy season and during the winter months. The key is wise packing. If you are going to stay 5 days in England, bring 5 sets of clothes (maximum). Include light undershirts, sweaters of varying warmth, long-sleeved shirts, a rain coat, a tie or a scarf, and a windbreaker. Sweaters are very bulky but there is a remedy. Purchase clothes compressor bags so you do not have to ask someone to sit on the suitcase while you latch it. All you need to do is to place your sweater in these bags, the air out and you will reduce the bulk out of your sweater by 40% to 50%.

More tips for off-season traveler

Be flexible. Just because it rains doesn’t mean you should spend the rest of your day peeking through your hotel window and hope that the rain would stop. You can still go out and visit indoor sites such as historical museums or go to a popular café and enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Find other things to do if a particular attraction is closed. The thing is, there is more to England than the sites familiar to us. Do not be so confined with your itineraries. The best things are always found in unexpected places.

Travel just before the peak-season. If you want to enjoy high-season weather but not high-season cost, scheduling your England vacation a few weeks before the high-season changeover would be great.

Bachelorette Party Planning Basics

If you are a bridesmaid or maid of honor for the first time, you may be confused about how best to plan a bachelorette party. How do you tailor the party to suit the bride-to-be? Do you have to go out? Do you need to stay in? Should the party be naughty or nice?

There are a few key points to remember to plan a successful bachelorette party. First, determine, based on your knowledge of the bride or an actual conversation with her, what level of wild and crazy adventure she wants from her bachelorette party. Some girls love a last night out on the town with harmless attention from guys, lots of drinks, and dancing. Other girls prefer a night in with their closest friends, talking about guys, watching movies, and having a few margaritas. Either way, once you have determined whether you are planning an out on the town or an in the home party, you can begin to choose a theme for your event. If the bachelorette wants a low key home party, you might think about themes like “little girl slumber party,” or “80s fest!” If you have a set of girls who want to go out to a club, you may want a theme of a color – so you can all wear the color and get party favors in that hue. Everything you bring with you to the club can match, like all the girls in pink except the bride who wears white with pink accents.

It’s really a good idea to probe a little deeper into the subject of Bachelorette Parties. What you learn may give you the confidence you need to venture into new areas.

Next, think about party favors and decorations. You want to match the theme of your bachelorette party, and also the tone. For a tamer party, focus on girly touches and party favors like nail polish and hair accessories. For a wilder party, decorate with penis balloons and make a cake shaped like a penis. This is not for the faint of heart, but for a wild bunch of ladies, it can be a real riot.

Another consideration is the date of your party. It is recommended to keep the bachelorette party well in advance of the wedding. Gone are the days of a bachelor and bachelorette party the night before the wedding, because you don’t want a jittery bride or a hungover bride the next day! Think of planning the bachelorette party for about a month before the wedding date, but remember that you must carefully schedule with the other bridesmaids and the bride herself, and getting schedules to match can be tricky. Try to start your preparation as early as possible.

Finally, make sure you have a good guest list. You should of course invite all the other bridesmaids, honor attendants, and sisters of the bride. You may also want to consider some of the bride’s other friends who aren’t in the wedding party. Often great girls are close enough to the bride to want to celebrate with her but aren’t necessarily in the wedding. Don’t forget to include these special people! You are best served if you consult with the bride about the guest list for her bachelorette party.

Is there really any information about Bachelorette Parties that is nonessential? We all see things from different angles, so something relatively insignificant to one may be crucial to another.

How to Build Self Esteem

Self esteem is something we all have. It can be developed and improved even further as we grow older so there is the chance that we can become better people. But how do we do that? Well by following some simple steps.

The first step is to accept yourself for who you are. We are only human and there are limitations to what we can do. While there are some limitations that can be changed, there are some that can?t. For instance, if you don?t do well in math, you can get help so you can have a better grade in the future. On the other hand, if you want to buy a car and you don?t have the funds right now, well you just have to accept the fact that at this moment, this is not possible.

Aside from knowing your limitations, you have to understand that people have their own limitations as well and you have to accept them for who they are.

The second step is to understand that you have self worth. You are important to your family, to your friends and to society. You may not be running a country or a business but your contribution as an employee, as a breadwinner to the family and a listener when your friends need someone to talk to has value.

If you know your limits and you have a certain purpose in life, it is time to set realistic goals. When you plan what you want to do, make sure that this can be done over a period of time and not overnight. For instance, if you want to lose weight, you have to do this gradually and once you achieve it after several months, you will be happy with what you have achieved.

If you base what you do on inaccurate information, you might be unpleasantly surprised by the consequences. Make sure you get the whole Self Esteem story from informed sources.

Each one of us has experienced something different in our lives. This depends on the people we meet and the challenges that we have encountered. With that, you can take mistakes made as lessons for the future and achievements as things that could push you further. Since you don?t want to sit on your laurels, set your own standards and live by them.

The last thing you have to do to build up your self-esteem is simply to learn to love yourself. If you want to do something, go ahead and try it even if there are some people who may discourage you from doing it.

If you did a great job, give yourself a pat on the back and reward yourself because how you see yourself will be seen by other people so if you learn to value who you are, it will be easier for you to be appreciative of others.

We all have self-esteem and we just have to maintain it or try to make it even better. If you need help in building it, try seeing a specialist or buying a recording and then play it at home. Remember that these things are just tools and in the end, what is important is how you see yourself. It is also your life and you are the one who sets the direction.

Not your friends, family or loved ones but it wouldn?t hurt to consult them from time to time because these people also care about you.

That’s how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

Editing Is Not Enough In Editorial Services

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage–at least it seems that way. If you’ve been thinking you need to know more about it, here’s your opportunity.

Editorial services are the new hybrid service providers in today?s highly-competitive arena in writing and communications. Whereas in the past these people were employed by publishing houses, some of today?s enterprising editors banded themselves together or singly and put up their own editorial services businesses.

The services they offer run the full gamut of editing processes employed by the big publishing houses in the business. These include project development, manuscript consultation, copy editing and proof-reading, among others.

Editing route

In the old days, when a publisher decides to publish what a writer had just written, the writer simply hands them over the manuscript. This manuscript will then follow the typical publishing route of procedures.

Line editors will check for grammar, punctuation and problems in format and other copy-editing concerns. The acquisition editors may help shape the general direction of the work.

Developmental editors are sometimes hired by authors (and the publishers at times) to give shape to the work and make it marketable.

However, no editor will ever bother to check the facts written in the manuscript. Until recently, everybody assumes it is the job of the author. Or, perhaps someone hired to do the job.

The facts

Good editors will clean up all the sloppy details in the book (changing of names, conflicting character traits, etc.) including misplaced adverbs and dangling participles.

However, he is not obligated to find out if airplanes were already around in the 1800s.
He assumes the author had known that fact, the reason why it is included in the story in the first place.

Or, who should be responsible with checking of facts?

I trust that what you’ve read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

Fact-checkers

Aside from engaging the services of an editorial service group, an author must have his book quality-tested by an expert reader. This reader does nothing but double-check on supposed facts in the manuscript.

Fact checkers are hired to work on travel guide books, historical fiction and some other literary categories and genres. Travel books have hundreds of thousands of statistics on sizes, hours, prices, and phone numbers.

Few travel publishers hire fact-checkers, relying on the author for the authenticity of all their entries.

Almanacs, dictionaries, atlas

Ideally, a writer must have some fact books in his library for references ? encyclopedias, atlas maps, almanacs, dictionaries and many other guide books. This is especially true if his work deals with some history or science or some other specific topics and professions.

Authors

After the fact-checker and the line editor have finished their jobs, the author must go over his work one more time. Of course, some unavoidable circumstances happen.

Phone numbers in travel books go out of kilter when area codes of places are changed, restaurants close down, and names of streets and airports are changed.

Disclaimers on the copyright page can sometimes help but if the authors had re-checked one more time just before the book was printed, the error may have been averted.
